I wanted to start this website and blog to show some of my own personal photography projects and keep it separate from my photography business work.   This first blog highlights the start of a new project for me – Lego Photography!  At the start of lockdown when all weddings were cancelled I needed a new photography project to allow me to keep taking photographs.  With all air shows cancelled, the cricket season postponed, all “Steam Specials” cancelled, the West Somerset Railway closed and Government advising us not to travel I needed something I could do at home.

I had seen several Lego photographs before on Pinterest.  I loved the concept and with my son interested in Lego I thought it could be the perfect subject.  Instead of using my usual wedding / portrait equipment (Nikon D750’s) I took the opportunity to get to know another camera I have in my bag.  I purchased a Fuji XT1 a few years ago to undertake some underwater photography.  Purchasing an underwater housing for my Nikon D750 would be very expensive so looking for an alternate solution I found a solution with a Fuji XT1.  Although I still had to purchase an underwater housing, with the Fuji being a small mirrorless camera, the price was nowhere near that of one for a DSLR.  The solution worked really well.  You can see the outcome of some of the images here.

So with camera in hand I went about creating my Lego photography project.
