Lego Plane

by Mark Cox Whilst the lockdown restrictions are slowly being eased I have continued to photograph various items of Lego my son and his friends have built.  The plane show in this blog is from a friend of my son.  He really wanted so funky pictures of his newly built Lego Plane and I was happy to oblige. More of my Lego images can be found in my Lego gallery here. Please do check out my portrait and wedding photography pages

English Riviera Express – 02082020

by Mark Cox Sunday 2nd August saw another steam special head to the South West.  Saphos Trains ran another English Riviera Express. This time the train was hauled by 70000 Britannia, in the guise of 70022 ‘Tornado’.  The engine is own by the Royal Scot Trust.   Both are Britannia class locomotives.  A full list of these locomotives can be found here. The trip ran from Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear. All images were taken as the train as it stopped to take on more water at Taunton Station.  All images taken with my Fuji XT1.

Comet NEOWISE

by Mark Cox Comet NEOWISE (Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE)) was discovered in late March. Over the last few weeks it has brightened and became one of the few naked-eye comets of the 21st Century.  As the comet has already been photographed behind many famous sites and cities around the globe I thought I would try to capture it from the Blackdown Hills in Somerset.  The image below and the at the top of the page are my attempts.  The bright lights you can see at the bottom of the shot are of Wellington and Taunton. For those interested in camera [...]

Local Wildlife

by Mark Cox Local wildlife is another favourite subject to photograph.  Sometimes I don't even have to leave home to photography it.  During lockdown we have seen some not so regular visitors to the area.  These have included deer and a woodpecker. The images below of some very local wildlife were taken from my lounge window with a long Sigma 150-600 lens on my Nikon D750.  You can see more of my nature photography by visiting the gallery here.

The Lego Adventure begins..

by Mark Cox I wanted to start this website and blog to show some of my own personal photography projects and keep it separate from my photography business work.   This first blog highlights the start of a new project for me - Lego Photography!  At the start of lockdown when all weddings were cancelled I needed a new photography project to allow me to keep taking photographs.  With all air shows cancelled, the cricket season postponed, all "Steam Specials" cancelled, the West Somerset Railway closed and Government advising us not to travel I needed something I could do at home. [...]
